The ultimate Scottish Highland experience in Perthshire
"MacNab" namely to stalk a RED STAG, shoot a GROUSE and catch a wild SALMON all within one day, is derived from the famous novel by John Buchan under the title "John MacNab".
The best time to bag a MacNab is during the Rut ( mating season) for the Stags - this is towards the end of September up to and including 15th October when the salmon season ends on the Tay.
The day will begin at dawn with an experienced Ghillie to catch a SALMON on a beat on the River Tay. The gillie will be at your disposal throughout the day from dawn to dusk so you can venture down to the beat from 7am and can go back after your STAG stalking & GROUSE if you still have not caught a fish. The SALMON is the hardest to get hence the reason we suggest starting at dawn although you could venture out for the grouse first depending on the estate.
From the river, you would then transfer to the heather covered mountains to stalk a RED STAG and your GROUSE under the guidance and advice of an experienced Stalker/Gamekeeper.
And then back to the river if you still need to catch your SALMON
The cost of the MacNab challenge for 2017 is from £1995.00 to £2500 + vat per person depending on the estate - this includes:
- rifle hire and tackle hire if required
- packed lunch each day
- stalking for one Stag up to 11 points
- grouse shooting up to one brace per person
- salmon fishing with the services of a personal gillie for the day
Excludes accommodation at East Haugh House hotel, boiling antlers or taxidermy services, transport ( stalker will meet you at East Haugh House if required), stalkers/ghillie's tips.
