other activities

For some of the best fishing, field and country sports breaks, holidays, corporate days and vacations to be found anywhere in Scotland – East Haugh House is legendary.

Walking

Highland Perthshire is a walker's paradise amidst scenery to die for, with some of the finest mountains, lowland trails, unspoilt roads and paths, mixed walking and designated routes in the British Isles. A wealth of walks for walkers of all abilities, from easy low-level walks and strolls to more difficult mountain scrambles - from a few hours' rambling and gentle walking, to veritable expeditions.. Without doubt the best way to enjoy Highland Perthshire and the Pitlochry area in particular is on foot and part of the appeal of walking here is the diversity of the seasons. Each has something different to offer as indeed does every day.

There are walks to suit everyone, from a one-hour stroll with the kids to a multi-day trek through some of the last wilderness areas of Europe. At all times of the year, some of the most glorious scenery in Scotland can best be enjoyed during one of the many planned walks in the Pitlochry area.

Cycling and biking

Pitlochry is the centre of 3 major cycling areas of Highland Scotland with 6 waymarked routes -cycle highways around the most stunning and spectacular scenery of Pitlochry and Highland Perthshire. From 10miles to 40 miles, we have descriptive route maps at your disposal. The six are Garry cycle route, Schiehallion cycle route, Farragon circuit, Loch Tummel Circuit, Loch Rannoch circuit and the River Tummel circuit.
Atholl Estates at Blair Atholl offer rougher trails for mountain bikes. A plan is available.

Cycle hire is available from Escape Route,  West Moulin Road, repairs, hire & sales

Our favourites are a short day's cycle to Loch Tummel, or alternatively strike northwards to Calvine and Blair Atholl.

Adventure

Watersports

With two great local providers, Freespirits and Splash, set your spirit of adventure free with one of our white water rafting excursions or take up the challenge of canyoning, cliff jumping, abseiling and mountain biking.

River running is virtually as old as civilization itself, but rafting and kayaking as recreational activities are relatively new. A river journey is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the rural areas and natural environments of any country. These pleasures are complimented by an even greater thrill; running through powerful, fast flowing rapids.
